Who needs a license?

Long Beach requires all businesses to be licensed with the city if they are:

  • Located within city limits, or
  • Conducting business within city limits.

If you don't know if you do business within city limits, call the city at (360) 642-4421 before applying.

 

If more than one business is located in a single premise, you must complete a separate registration for each business conducted.

Exempt businesses

Some businesses may be exempt from getting a city business license. For more information, please contact the city directly.

Under what circumstances is a business license denied?

A license may be denied to a business for any of the following reasons:

  • If the application is incomplete or if it contains any material misrepresentation.
  • If the application does not meet the city’s zoning requirements.
